15 Months Old!

Austin is 15 months old today. Yikes! It seems like yesterday was his first birthday and the day before that he was born. We are going to see his doctor tomorrow to get his check up. I'll update after that with his new stats.

BA OOO

Austin and I went to Harris Teeter last night to pick up some overnight diapers. It was later than I normally take him out and he was getting hungry. He was pretty well behaved despite this but getting a little fussy. He saw the balloons in the check out lane and started pointing and saying BA OO. He got really happy about these balloon. I was mentally cussing that he saw them because that meant that he would be throwing a tantrum when we had to leave. To my surprise, the cashier offered to give him one. Thank goodness for that. We have had hours of fun with the BA OO. This morning, I found him walking around the house holding on to the sting. Here's a video:

Can I just say that as tough as these new tantrums can be, this sweet boy makes it all worth it!

Red Raspberry French Toast Deliciousness

2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 tbsp brown sugar not packed
syrup
powdered sugar

1. Make jelly sandwiches and slice in half.
2. Whisk eggs, vanilla and brown sugar in a small bowl then transfer to a plate. Meanwhile, heat a large skillet coated with Pam over med-high heat.
3. Soak both sides of the sandwiches in the egg solution.
4. Cook the sandwiches until golden brown on each side.
5. Serve with syrup and sprinkled with powdered sugar.

Great for toddlers (I just omit the syrup and extra sugar because really, who wants a baby that wound up?!)

Will I ever feel better?

I haven't run in 3 WEEKS! The first week was just laziness. The 2nd week Austin was sick with a cold and it was too cold outside for me to take him running. Now, I have been fighting the cold for a week now. I went through the normals cycle and thought it was getting better. The one things that hasn't changed is my clogged ears. It feels like I am in a plane and my ears need to pop. Every night I got to bed in hopes that I will wake up unclogged. It hasn't happened yet. Nothing is helping!
I don't so much care about not feeling well. What I is really bothering me is that I haven't been able to run. My body feels so out of whack. My muscles feel tight and flabby at the same time. The flexibility I gained from doing yoga after my runs is gone. I just feel gross.
I am so ready for Spring to come and the germs to go away. I want to my head to clear and get my feet on the road again!

Is it bad that Austin's newest word is cheese? I say "Say cheese for the camera" and he says "CHEEEEEES". I don't care, it's adorable!

Mondays

Every Monday, I log onto Facebook (like I do every morning) and am greeted with tons of statuses complaining about it being Monday. It seems like no one likes them. I used to be one of those people. Mondays begin by forcing yourself out of bed after you went to bed too late on Sunday, most likely because you are trying to prepare for Monday. You have to focus after a weekend of relaxation. When I was teaching, you had to restart the routines for the kids. Mondays are like the first mile of a run. It's hard to get started after you've been out of it for a few days.

Well, as cheesy as it sounds, I don't hate Mondays any more because it's just one more day I get to be home with Austin. We get back into a routine. I eat better and I workout more. Mondays are welcomed in the Alcock home!

This morning I made heart shaped french toast fingers with red rasberry preserves in the middles and sprinkled with powdered sugar. I think Austin liked them, he looks like one happy boy!
